I recently had the please of working with my good friends from im-art to photograph Siobhan and Ben's wedding at the fantastic Coombe Bank School over the water in Kent. It's a stunning building set in marvellous grounds and even boasts it's own chapel.

Ben is from Australia and at one point it was touch and go but most of the family and friends managed to beat the volcanic ash and make it to the big day.

After the ceremony the ground and interor provided some great photo opportunities.

Wedding regrets

A colleague of mine recently posted on a professional photography forum these comments he had found on a Bridal forum under the heading wedding regrets. There were posts regarding other aspects of the wedding but here are a few referring to their wedding photography.

Hope this is of some interest??

I regret that we didn't do one photo, it only occured to us on the day and it just slipped our minds.

Wish photographer stuck to my list - lovely reportage pics , but NO pics of me and hubbie with our family - parents were a bit gutted.

Wish I'd had time for more pictures before leaving the house. wish my mum had hung around outside the church to wait for me before she went in so i could have a photo with her - but hey ho!!!wish the photographer had moved people around in the group shots a bit as my bridesmaid kinda overpowers my mummy!

think the main thing I regret is not getting more pictures of me with my friends as Sophie got loads which makes me jealous I wish we'd shopped around more for a better photographer, and allocated more of our budget for photography.

wish we hadn't had our photographer - we've been married a year and 5 months and, while we have our proofs, we don;t have our album, and never will i suspect!

I regret not making the photographers use the list I gave them. There's not a single photo of just me and me mum which I'm really disappointed about. And I regret that we can't do it all again!! LOL!

I got a little annoyed as the photographer started interrupting the flow of the ceremony by making us pause for pictures.

We had reportage pics, which I'm hoping will be as perfect as the rest of our photographers portfolio - but I'm now kinda wishing I'd had some formal ones with my bridesmaids and sister.

All of the regrets above could easily have been avoided with proper communication between photographer and the bride and groom before the wedding day. Papermill Lock bridge

One of the delights of being an Essex Wedding Photographer is discovering some of the fabulous but little known corners of the County one such place is Papermill Lock which is situated midway between Chelmsford and Heybridge Basin on the Chelmer and Blackwater Canal. There's are great Tea Room with homemade cakes! Canoes and rowing boats for hire or even traditional narrow boats. For something a little more relaxing there is also river trips or a walk along the tow path.

Boreham House is an exciting new wedding venue for Essex. Situated just off the A12 near Chelmsford it is steeped in history and offers a stunning setting for your celerbration.

I can't wait to photography a wedding there - so far I have had three enquires but have already been booked for the dates in question.

As a professional Essex wedding photographer I only ever accept one wedding a day so I can give you my undivided attention. Many photographers will take multiple booking then employ operators to cover them. So when booking your wedding photographer always be sure to confirm the person you are dealing with will actually be your photographer on the day and if not, where possible, meet the photographer allocated to you or at the very least view samples of their work.

Don't forget I also offer all my wedding couples a free pre-wedding shoot where practical, to allow us to get to know each other a little better so on the big day we are already used to working together.

Wedding at Southchurch Hall Museum 14th August

Donna and Darren chose the fantastic Southchurch Hall Museum as the setting for their wedding. We were hoping to make use of the super grounds but the weather wasn't on our side as after only a handfull of shots the heavens opened. As we weren't able to go back into the venue (they seemed to have locked us out) we headed off to Marco's in Rayleigh where the reception was to take place as the weather had brighted up we made use of the playing field opposite to continue with the photography.

Saturday saw this Essex wedding photographer cross the county line into Hertfordshire to photograph the wedding of Nichola and Danny. Both were very relaxed and really enjoyed their day.

A first for me Nichola arrived carrying than rather wearing her wedding dress and had to change after her interview with the registrars.

Fire at Historic Shoebury Garrison

As I went out of the front door this morning there was a strong smell of smoke in the air and what looked like fog over the sea. Sadly the derelict but historic Officers Mess which was earmarked to become a hotel was well alight. As a wedding photographer I was really excited by the prospect of photographing weddings there, with parkland and the cricket pitch one side and the beach on the other coupled with what was reportedly a stunning interior it would have presented almost endless photographic opportunities.

Let's hope something can be salvaged but it looks unlikely. We will probably see more development like the very out of place Outlook apartments that can just be seen in the top image. They would look great on a modern site but totally spoil the aesthetics of this historic site when seen from the sea or shore.

Emily hired this stunning dress for her prom night, as she wanted to be sure of some great photographs to remember the occasion I was commissioned to capture a series of images at her Aunt's the evening following the prom night.

All the family were delighted with the results,. Emily said " It's great to have an opportunity to get all dressed up again. Although there was a photographer at the prom and I had some fun shots with my friends it's fantastic to be able to have some shots done on my own without being rushed the queues on the prom night were huge and some of my friends spent lots of time queuing when they should have been enjoying the party. "

Happy Easter

A happy Easter to all.

I recently shot some images of our local Church, St Mary's in Benfleet and produced them as Easter Cards for a local Greetings Card Shop. There seems to be a demand for images of the local area, so weather permiting I hope to be out and about over the weekend capturing the local landmarks.

As I have been asked to shoot some images for Christmas cards I am probably one of the few people hoping the promised snow appears.

There are a number of bugs to iron out such as positioning and font on some of the hyperlinks but overall I am fairly pleased given my limited experience of using frontpage.

I have known Jo for a couple of years, since I took photographs to celebrate her Mum's birthday, so she was very relaxed.

Matt took a little longer to get into it.

Jo and Matt are getting married in Feb. next year in the evening with a candlelit church service I am really looking forward to it.
